In the past twenty or thirty years, the international stone industry has developed rapidly. Since 1990, the global stone production and trade volume have increased by 7.3% and 9.2% each year, higher than other industries. The development of the entire stone industry is significantly faster than the development of the global economy.
Before the founding of the People's Republic of China, there was no stone industry in China. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, China's stone industry began to start.
The number of stone products produced in China is increasing year by year. In 2007, driven by the steady and rapid growth of the national economy and the rapid development of related industries, the demand for stone products increased steadily. In 2007, China exported US $3.427 billion and 27.61 million tons of stone, up 19.45% and 86.30% respectively from 2006; The imported stone was 1.259 billion US dollars and 7.23 million tons, which also increased by 19.70% and 21.11% respectively compared with 2006.

China's stone production is mainly distributed in Fujian, Guangdong and Shandong, three major provinces of stone production, of which Fujian and Shandong (Wulian County) are major provinces of raw materials and processing production, while Guangdong is mainly engaged in the processing of imported stones. The above three provinces account for 85% of China's stone production, mainly marble and granite products.
The internal consumption of stone materials in China is mainly divided into three parts, namely, the internal and external decorative plates of buildings, which is the largest part of the use of stone materials; The second is construction stone, including garden stone and engineering stone; Then there are stone carving, stone art, tombstone products, etc. The largest amount of architectural decorative stone is used.
The prosperity of China's stone market and the increase of stone demand have led international stone merchants to invest in China. Domestic stone enterprises have also integrated resources and actively participated in the competition in the domestic stone market. China's stone market is moving towards the center of the international stone market. China's stone market has become an indispensable and important force in the international stone market. In the near future, the world stone production and trade center will be transferred from Europe to China in Asia.
Driven by market demand, the development of China's stone industry grows at a double-digit rate every year. In the next few years, the domestic stone consumption demand will remain strong, and the development rate will remain in double digits. After 2010, the development speed of China's stone industry will slow down, but the growth rate of the annual stone production will remain at about 10% - 15%.
